Abstract

In Richardson v. Stanley Works, Inc., the owner of design patent for a multi-function carpentry tool appealed from a district court's decision that its patent was not infringed. In upholding the finding, the Federal Circuit discussed what exactly a district court can exclude from its analysis. Mary LaFrance analyzes this case and its affect on future cases.
