Abstract

In Welding Services, Inc. v. Forman, the Eleventh Circuit addressed the standards for determining whether an abbreviation of a generic expression is itself sufficiently distinctive to warrant trademark protection. This issue is examined by Mary LaFrance, a William S. Boyd Professor of Law at the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
